Where to stay:
The Pendry: If you have to stay on the Sunset Strip, this place has good sheets, a fantastic shower, and a great view of the dog park I used to go to to bump into my husband’s ex. It’s also the only hotel on the strip that doesn’t require a total gut reno. Honestly, the food at Tower Bar is excellent, but their rooms need to be set on fire.
The CONRAD : This hotel is my favorite when I’m traveling for work and need to be downtown. I love the rooms, I love the lobby vibe, and I love the German guy who works at the front desk.
The Bel Air: It’s so fucking expensive. But also gorgeous.
The Four Seasons: Mid.
Coffee Shops:
KINGS ROAD The best if you like your coffee strong, black, and roasted right in front of you. The breakfast and the shrimp tacos are also bussin.
Community goods - Great matcha. This place went viral for mini breakfast sliders, but they truthfully aren’t worth the hype.
Lunch:
Telegrama - Mexican-inspired café with excellent pastries, tortas, and strong coffee.
Leora - Upscale Middle Eastern/Mediterranean.
Great white- Aussie-inspired all-day café with beachy indoor/outdoor seating. MUST GET the breakfast burrito!!
Cook book - Tiny gourmet market + with rotating selection of local produce and baked goods.
The OG NOZAWA that is now a Kazunori. My picture is on the wall. It’s basically my Sardi’s.
M CAFE on Melrose. Get the Salmon bento and the Macro burger.
This is going to sound controversial, but Mauro’s Cafe in the old Fred Segal is still a favorite.
VERSAILLES - for cheap authentic cuban food.
HIKO sushi- some of my favorite Omakase. My car, along with my dog, Gina, was once towed out of their parking lot. Just a heads up.
